Austin Panama Hat Montecristi Natural Original Grade 19-22

The hat of Montecristi Austin is one of the most representative crafts of Ecuador and a cultural symbol of the province of Manabí. This hat is made entirely by hand with natural straw fibers, extracted from the plant Carludovica palmata. Its production is mainly concentrated in the canton of Montecristi, a place recognized worldwide for the quality and fineness of its fabrics.

In 2012, the Ecuadorian Institute of Intellectual Property awarded the Denomination of Origin “Montecristi”, which guarantees that hats with this certification have been made in Montecristi following traditional techniques passed down from generation to generation. This name protects the authenticity of the product, and recognizes the work of artisans who participate in the entire production chain, from the cultivation of straw to the final fabric.
