We met Modesto who owns this amazing hat shop. We had a private demonstration on how the hats are made. 3 generations of hat makers here in Montecristi where the Panama hats originated from and have been made here for 100 years. I was able to trim the brim of a hat and see the fine details of how they were woven. The prices vary depending on the fineness of the weave. I bought a very finely woven one, as well a regular one. You can never have too many hats.
